Ten in 10 – Weeks 6 and 7 Update

I have to be honest and say that I’m still not really in the mood to write… I considered skipping this Ten in 10 update entirely when I remembered that I had skipped last week’s update.  #10in10 FAIL!  So, it is under self-inflicted duress that I am writing this post. How’s that for an intro? I bet you really want to keep reading, don’t you?

You probably remember that I spent the majority of last week in NYC.  So, it will come as no surprise to you that I haven’t had a real successful two weeks of the Ten in 10 challenge since my last post. The surprising part is that I managed to do better while I was in NYC than when I returned home.  Sure, I was eating duck confit and cupcakes from the Magnolia Bakery, but I managed to keep my portion sizes under control.  It’s when I got home that things really went downhill. I got home from my trip somewhat exhausted and had very little food in the house – so we went out to eat a few times, and I snacked on junk.  I also had trouble getting back into my workout routine (which I put on hold when I was in NYC due to lack of sneakers).

I am happy to say that I have gotten back on track with my workout schedule, and I’m working on getting back into more of a cooking mood.  As I mentioned yesterday, I’ve been lacking in inspiration this week, so I haven’t eaten as well as I would have liked. Fortunately, I stocked up on fresh produce at the market last week, so I did manage to make some healthy dinners, despite my lack of inspiration.  I snacked on chocolate and other junk in the house, though, which pretty much derailed my efforts.  On the bright side, though, I stocked up on some good stuff yesterday to make some healthy snacks, and I got a few new healthy magazines in the mail, so I’m hoping I will be able to turn things around next week.

So, how about you? Hopefully you’re rocking the Ten in 10 challenge, unlike yours truly. If so, what’s the secret to your success? And, what inspires you to turn things around after you’ve had a bad day or a bad week?

Personally, I usually start to crave healthier food and workouts. It may sound strange, but getting that first workout in usually makes me feel a lot better!
That’s about where I’m at right now… I’m ready to get back into my healthy routine. My hopes are high for this coming week.

  1. Glad to hear you’re getting back into the workouts. I think that’s the most important part. When your body is feeling good, the eating-healthy thing usually follows suit. I didn’t post about the challenge today just because I don’t really have anything compelling to say. My weight loss has remained the same but I feel awesome & I’m working out like crazy. Can’t do much better than that… unless I really cut down on the cooking & baking, then I’d probably lose the rest of the weight!!

  2. Hang in there, I think everyone goes through ups and downs. As long as the ups outweigh the downs, your weight loss journey will continue.

  3. Lori – Yes, I have always struggled with the eating part more than working out. I have discovered that I love weight training, so that’s always a good way for me to get back into routine. Once I am back on track with my workouts, my food cravings usually change on their own. Thanks goodness! I think I need to quit the Daring Bakers, though, for total success! LOL

Wendy – Thanks for the encouragement! I always dread writing these posts when I haven’t had a great week, but then I see comments like yours, and they make it all worth it!

  4. Good luck on getting your healthy mojo back :) I know sometimes I could go a week without writing my blog. It’s not that I don’t enjoy it, because I do, I just sometimes can not find the energy. I think you are doing great and always seem to find wonderful food to share. Plus your pictures are always awesome :)

Keep at it!! You’ve been doing great and I’m glad you didn’t let one week stop you from picking up the your routine again. I have had my moments when i didn’t want to write anything on my blog., but somehow I manage to write some thing, even if it’s just a little.

I love hitting that point when I’m really working on hard on eating right and exercising when I start to crave healthy foods–such a fabulous feeling! KEEP GOING!! YOU ARE AWESOME!
