Thanksgiving is now less than one week away! Oh my! Despite the fact that I’ve been thinking about food for Thanksgiving for a few weeks now, it seems that I haven’t really made many decisions regarding what I’m actually making. Fortunately, I did remember to order a turkey ahead of time, so I’ve got that much covered. But,…

It feels good to be back on track with my Kitchen Bootcamp challenge… And, I can’t think of a better way to get back in the swing of things than with this pasta and dumplings challenge! It was certainly a personal favorite of mine, and it seems like everyone else had a great time, too! So,…

Another busy week has come and gone… That just seems to be the way it goes lately. I am looking forward to a nice, relaxing weekend, though. Part of my plan for the weekend include spending some time in the kitchen. That really is one of my favorite ways to relax! And, with lots of great new…

Wow… What a week! The week started off with us moving the entire contents of our upstairs down into our living room and garage in preparation for carpet installation on Tuesday… Tuesday came and went, and there was no carpet. The carpet came on Wednesday instead. There were a few mishaps along the way, but by…

Are you a leftovers fan? I’m not. Not at all.
There’s just something that happens to leftovers once they enter my refrigerator. They change somehow and become completely inedible to me. It happens with even my favorite foods… They enter the “cold zone” and are never the same.
I don’t like to be wasteful, though… And, I also bad making my husband eat all of the leftovers (though, he doesn’t have the same issues that I have). So, I tend to re-purpose my leftovers. For reasons I can’t understand, when I view leftovers as ingredients instead of just food to be reheated, I have no trouble using them up. It makes no sense, I realize.

Things have been a bit crazy around here lately. Since her knee surgery last week, our doggy has needed lots of extra attention. She’s not allowed to go up and down stairs, has to avoid all slippery surfaces (easier said than done since we have hardwood floors), and must wear one of those Elizabethan “cone” collars whenever she’s…

Lately I’ve been in a bit of a cooking slump. I can think of lots of things that I’d love to bake, but since I cannot live on cake, cookies, and cupcakes alone (don’t I wish!), I’ve been forced to try to fight through my lack of inspiration and cook anyway.
When I’m feeling uninspired, I tend towards pizzas, frittatas, and soups… They are all of my “blank canvas” foods that lend themselves well to whatever’s in the fridge. I’ve found myself making a lot of them lately… Especially soups. The cooler weather that we’ve been having just begs for soup, if you ask me.

I thought I’d share one more vegetable recipe with you before the end of this month’s Kitchen Bootcamp challenge. My goal with this challenge was to encourage everyone to explore the local produce available this time of year, so I thought I’d develop a new recipe using one of my favorite summer staples – sweet…

Happy (finally) Friday! Don’t you hate those weeks when you keep thinking that it’s later in the week than it really is? All day on Wednesday, I kept thinking it was Thursday. I almost got started writing my Friday Favorites when I was rudely awakened to the fact that it was only Wednesday. Anyway, now it…

I often find myself paging through my cookbooks trying to come up with ideas of what to make for dinner during the week. I rarely end up actually following a recipe, but I often use the recipes as inspiration. This stuffed pepper recipe was inspired by a shepherds pie stuffed pepper recipe I saw in…
