Gingerbread Love Shack for Valentine’s Day (WFMW)

2012-02-08_LoveShack-250px

Valentine’s Day is less than a week away… While I can’t say that I have gotten anything for my hubby yet (oops, sorry honey!), I have done some Valentine’s Day baking. So, while I may not be the person to help you with great gift ideas for that special someone (in fact, if you have…

Merry Christmas from Yellowdog and family…

2011-12-23_DogChristmasCookies-250px

Christmas is just a few short days away.  Hopefully by now you’ve baked most of your Christmas cookies, finished wrapping gifts, and made plans with friends and relatives.  So, instead of writing a Friday Favorites post with some last minute recipe ideas, I decided to let Yellowdog take over today.  She’s been dying to show…

Stress Free Royal Icing (WFMW)

2011-11-02_RoyalIcingWFMW-250px

Last week, as I was decorating cookies for Halloween, I was reminded of the fact that I’ve been meaning to share my tips for making royal icing with no stress. After all, everyone wants to decorate beautiful cookies during the holiday season, but no one wants to fight with the royal icing. Between shopping for…

Dark Cocoa Molasses Cookies

2011-10-31_CocoaMolassesCookies-250px

I love to decorate cookies… And, typically my cookie of choice is a standard vanilla bean sugar cookie. My sugar cookies are both tasty and sturdy, two important qualities in a cookie! This time of year, though, I start to get antsy and feel the need to break out of the usual sugar cookie mold….

Surprise! (60th Birthday Cookies)

2011-09-06_60thBirthdayCookies-250px

If you follow me on Twitter, you may have noticed that I’ve been MIA for a few days… A few of you even called me out on it. You know you tweet way too much when people notice that you’re gone for an afternoon. And, they wonder if everything’s OK. I’m fine. I’ve just been…

Tips for Gluten-Free Baking (WFMW)

2011-08_03_GFBaking-250px

When I attended the Big Summer Potluck last summer, I took decorated cookies to share with everyone… But, as it turned out, not everyone could enjoy them. I hadn’t accounted for food allergies and sensitivities, and to some poeple in the group, my cookies were poison. I’ve said it many times before, and I’ll say…

Happy 4th of July!

2011-07-04_4thofJulyCookies-250px

Happy 4th of July! To celebrate, I thought I’d share a few cookies that I made for our Independence Day celebration…  These are the first cookies I’ve done in a long time, and it felt great to have a piping bag full (really only about 1/2 full) of royal icing in my hands!

New York City Cookies

2011-03-17_NYCCookies-250px

As you’re reading this, I am on my way to New York City!  I bet you can’t figure out what inspired these cookies… It’s been a little while since I posted any cookies here on the blog, so I figured it was about time.  I wanted to put together some cookies to send to a…

Valentine’s Day Cookies

2011-02-13_ValentinesCookies-250px

Instead of making homemade chocolates this year, I decided to decorate some box of chocolate cookies instead… You know, those heart-shaped boxes that can only be found around Valentine’s Day. It seemed like a fun cookie design to try just for fun (and a good way to use up the rest of my Nutella cutout cookies and royal icing from my heart cookies last week).

Heart Cookies for Valentine’s Day

It’s been a while since I decorated cookies… Hand surgery has a way of messing things up like that. When I posted my Nutella Sandwich Cookies for Nutella Day on Saturday, though, I promised that the cutout cookies would work well for decorating… I keep my promises.  Plus, my hand is doing much better. I…
