This week, I’m focusing on recipes to help you along with your holiday baking… Baking really is the best part of the holidays, isn’t it? Yesterday I shared a favorite new cookie recipe with you.  Today, I thought we’d talk about another sweet treat as a part of my baking series with Red Star Yeast……

Friday Favorites – Episode 112

FridayFavorites_new.jpg

This has been one of the first weeks in quite a while that my hubby and I didn’t have something on the schedule every single night of the week. And, it’s been great. Because I’ve had some down time in the evenings, I’ve also been spending more time in the kitchen during the day. That’s…

Pumpkin Pull-Apart Pan Rolls

Baking season is here! I can think of very few better ways to spend a chilly fall afternoon than baking homemade bread. It warms up the kitchen and fills the house with a wonderful aroma.  Plus, your family will thank you when they sit down to dinner with warm, freshly baked bread on the table! You…

Bread Baking Basics – The Recipes

2011-05-05_BreadBasicsLogo-250px

I hope you’ve enjoyed my series on the basics of baking homemade bread! Over the past few weeks, I’ve covered the necessary equipment, the basics of yeast, and tips on mixing up bread dough without a big mess. So, now it’s time to get baking! I had planned to share a new, basic bread recipe…

Light and Soft Dinner Rolls

2011-05-03_DinnerRolls-250px

If you ask anyone in my family, they will tell you that these are the ultimate dinner rolls. But, I can’t really take credit for them. These are my grandmother’s famous rolls…  Whenever we would have get togethers with the whole family, she would make a big batch of these rolls. They were a holiday staple for years. My brother…

Friday Favorites – Christmas Entertaining (Episode 75)

2010-12-09_12DaysChristmas2010.jpg

If you’re much like me, you’ve probably rushed around to finish all of your shopping and get the gifts wrapped so that you have next week to focus on food. Granted, I do make a lot of homemade gifts, so I don’t have ALL of my gifts done. But, I would much rather spend the week before Christmas in my kitchen listening to Christmas music while I cook and bake. It sure beats pushing your way through the super-crowded stores looking for last minute gifts! I suppose that it’s also a good time to clean the house if you have guests coming, but we won’t talk much about that.

Since I spent last week introducing you to more cookies than you could ever possibly bake during one holiday season (that’s a challenge… I dare you!), I thought it would good to focus this week’s Friday Favorites post on holiday entertaning! After all, we can’t live on cookies alone (or can we?).

Challenge: Yeast Breads (Kitchen Bootcamp June) + Homemade Steak Rolls

Now that we all have one Kitchen Bootcamp challenge under our belts, it’s time to talk about the chapter for the June challenge.  I gave this one some serious thought, and I decided to take on something a bit different than the last challenge.  We’ll come back to more sauces and stocks later, but this…

Hamburger Rolls

I love to make burgers – especially this time of year. I have tried making my own hamburger rolls a few times in the past, but I haven’t been too happy with the results. Usually, the rolls just aren’t quite soft enough and I’m not happy with the texture. A few weeks ago, when I…

Whole Wheat Cinnamon Rolls (Take Two)

Last week, I was craving cinnamon rolls. I saw a few Easter blog posts about cinnamon rolls, and they were driving me absolutely crazy. So, when the weekend rolled around, I just had to make some cinnamon rolls for Saturday morning’s breakfast. I know that I have made cinnamon rolls before… So, you might be…

Friday Favorites – Episode 49

It’s Friday again… Good Friday, to be exact. So, I thought it was only appropriate that I pick a few Easter dishes for this week’s favorites.  If you’re still planning your Easter menu, or if you just want to make a few fun treats, these recipes are for you! I will actually not be doing…
