Pizza Dough Secrets (WFMW)

2011-01-19_PizzaDough-WFMW-250px

Last week, I shared my tip for using parchment paper to get your pizza in and out of the oven. Then, it occurred to me that I haven’t shared my secrets for making homemade pizza dough. What good is a trick for transporting your homemade pizza if you don’t have a great recipe for the pizza dough?

Never fear… The recipe is here.

Perfect Pizza on Parchment (WFMW)

Perhaps this week’s Works for Me Wednesday post should actually be called “My husband can make pizza and so can you!”

Since my hand has been all wrapped up since I had surgery last week, my husband has been helping out and filling in for me in the kitchen. He’s good like that!

Last Friday, after my surgery, he decided that he would make pizza for lunch with the leftover homemade dough that I had in the fridge. Not only did he make pizza, but he baked it on my pizza stone! I did my best to give instructions, and Yellowdog supervised the whole operation (and cleaned up the cheese scraps that fell on the floor!).

South Carolina Pulled Pork Pizza and a Giveaway!

I use my slow cooker a lot throughout the year, but I think it probably gets used the most when January rolls around. Perhaps you can relate…

Though I do my best to stay organized and cook healthy meals throughout the year, I find that I am extra motivated in January. I get back to my weekly meal planning and plan out healthy meals for the week. One of the ways that I cope with busy weeks is to pull out my slow cooker. I love meals that can be prepped ahead of time (often the night before), allowing me an entire day free of worrying about preparing dinner. I also love that most of the meals that I prepare in my slow cooker yield enough food for at least two meals for my husband and I. It’s even better when I can repurpose the leftovers into a new dish with minimal effort!

Kitchen Bootcamp Roundup – Hors d’Oeuvre and Appetizers

2010-12-29_Appetizers_000.jpg

When I announced the November/December Kitchen Bootcamp challenge, I had grandiose plans for all of the lovely appetizers I would make. The holidays seemed like a wonderful time for me to finally embrace the concept of appetizers and come up with a few of my own. But, as it often does, life just got in the way.

I love to order appetizers at a restaurant, but when it comes to making them myself, I usually just can’t be bothered. I’m more of a cheese and crackers person. So, even though it sounded like a lot of fun to develop new appetizers during the holidays, when things got busy, they went right back to the bottom of my priority list. I would just much rather spend time on a fancy dessert or the main dish than worry about appetizers.

Friday Favorites – Episode 69

FridayFavorites_new.jpg

Last week was one of those busy weeks where we had to be somewhere every night of the week.  Some people enjoy being busy like that, but I am not one of those people.  This week, I was happy to have a bit of down time to get some things done around the house, in the…

Kitchen Bootcamp Roundup – Yeast Breads

Can you believe we’re at the end of the second month of the Kitchen Bootcamp challenge? The summer has been flying by! I’m so excited that so many of you decided to participate in this month’s challenge… Especially since I chose yeast breads! I know it was a challenge for many people, but I definitely…

CSA Pizza

When posed with the challenge of finding something to make with the remaining veggies from my CSA share last week, I decided to make some pizza.  It seemed like a great way to use the remaining zucchini, kale, and cherry tomatoes.  Especially since I had all of the ingredients for homemade pizza dough and pizza…

Penny Pinching Pantry Raid Week 1 Update

After a week of penny pinching and raiding my pantry, I am happy to say that I am on track and haven’t blown my budget (yet).  Because I started with a fairly well-stocked pantry, I have had a lot of options each night when it comes to making dinner.  It’s definitely been a shift in…

Asparagus Prosciutto Pizza

Whenever my husband and I are in Boston, we eat at Giacomo’s Restaurant – a great little Italian place on Hanover Street in the North End.  When we are there, I usually order the butternut squash ravioli.  It is served in a cream sauce with asparagus and prosciutto.  The flavors in the pasta dish were…

Friday Favorites – Episode 7

It’s Friday again, which means it’s time for my favorite blog posts of the week!  Time really does fly – it’s hard to believe this is my seventh week of Friday Favorites. When I started this blog back in January, I had no idea that it would be this much fun or that it would lead…
