Coffee cake has been one of my favorites ever since I was a kid. It was always a great treat. And, I loved the fact that my mom would make a cake, something typically reserved for dessert only, and serve it for breakfast! Even though I’ve had a copy of my grandmother’s cinnamon flop coffee…

Sure, turkey gets all of the attention for Thanksgiving… But, I have to say, I have always associated Thanksgiving with baking more than with turkey. Of course, I love to bake, so I guess that makes sense! For as long as I can remember, my family’s Thanksgiving table always head a great assortment of homemade…

Thanksgiving is just a few short weeks away… 2 weeks and 1 day to be exact, but don’t panic. It will be OK! As I mentioned last Friday, I’m hosting Thanksgiving this year. So, I’ve had Thanksgiving on the brain for a few weeks already! If you read my blog regularly, you know that I…

2011-07-06_OrangeSherbet-250px

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Sunkist for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine. Isn’t it funny how certain foods remind you of a particular time of year? Previously, when I thought of oranges, I was always reminded of Christmas.  We always had oranges on hand around the holidays because…

Friday Favorites – Episode 81

FridayFavorites_new.jpg

This week has been a busy one for me… I haven’t had a lot of unusual appointments on my schedule, but I’ve been trying to accomplish a lot. In addition to my usual cooking, baking, and writing, I’ve also been in the process of redesigning the site… Making changes to the site are also pretty time consuming for me. I have been known to stare at different fonts for 2 hours at a time and rearrange the same widgets 10 times because I can’t decide which layout looks best!

Christmas is just around the corner… Can you believe it? Many years in the past, I have been one of those people who is organized, prepared, and ready for the holidays weeks in advance.  This year is quite different.  I’ve had a busy schedule and a lot going on, and I haven’t really had much time to prepare…

Cranberry Crostata (Daring Bakers November)

2010-11-27_DaringBakersCrostata-250px

The 2010 November Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Simona of briciole. She chose to challenge Daring Bakers’ to make pasta frolla for a crostata. She used her own experience as a source, as well as information from Pellegrino Artusi’s Science in the Kitchen and the Art of Eating Well.

This is the third month in a row that I have actually participated in a Daring Bakers challenge! Can you believe it? I had a bit of a rough spell with very little inspiration/energy, but I’m back!

Friday Favorites – Episode 58

It’s been a few weeks since I wrote one of my regular Friday Favorites posts… It seems that live is getting in the way a bit this summer! So, as I was going through my RSS reader this week, I came up with a few extra posts this week that I thought were worthy of…
