Caramelized Onion and Mushroom Pizza

2011-03-14_MushroomOnionPizza-250px

I know a lot of people are cutting back on meat lately for a variety of reasons.  We have significantly cut back on the amount of eat we eat in our house, as well. I feel like eating a more vegetarian, and sometimes vegan, diet is much healthier than the meat heavy diet we used…

Friday Favorites – Episode 82

FridayFavorites_new.jpg

I don’t really have a long elaborate story to tell this week… It’s been a fairly ordinary week. I’ve been cooking, baking, writing, and taking photos. It’s been nice, but also uneventful. So, instead of dragging things out any further, I’ll just tell you about my favorite blog posts from the past week! I love doughnuts, but…

Kitchen Bootcamp Roundup – Hors d’Oeuvre and Appetizers

2010-12-29_Appetizers_000.jpg

When I announced the November/December Kitchen Bootcamp challenge, I had grandiose plans for all of the lovely appetizers I would make. The holidays seemed like a wonderful time for me to finally embrace the concept of appetizers and come up with a few of my own. But, as it often does, life just got in the way.

I love to order appetizers at a restaurant, but when it comes to making them myself, I usually just can’t be bothered. I’m more of a cheese and crackers person. So, even though it sounded like a lot of fun to develop new appetizers during the holidays, when things got busy, they went right back to the bottom of my priority list. I would just much rather spend time on a fancy dessert or the main dish than worry about appetizers.

Slow Cooked Tomato Sauce

I had a 6 pound can of peeled whole tomatoes in my pantry.  Don’t ask questions… It’s a long story that involves a trip to a price club store and lots of exclamations like “Wow, that’s a huge can of tuna!” or “Check out the size of that bag of chips!” Long story short, the 6…

Especially when it crosses the four digit threshold. I just spent the last 4 hours going through all of the unread…

Another week has come and gone, and it’s time for my Friday Favorites! Let’s just get right to it, shall we? If you have wanted to make croissants but held back because you thought they would be difficult, think again!  These homemade Croissants from Tracey’s Culinary Adventures are some of the best I’ve seen.  Tracey…

Friday Favorites – Episode 30

Grilled Chicken and Vegetable Fajitas

I don’t know if it has been the heat or just lack of enthusiasm on my part, but I have been having trouble figuring out what to cook lately.  I think part of it is the fact that everything I want to eat doesn’t register real well with trying to eat healthy, and the healthy…

Vegetable Frittata

Each week, I try to make a few vegetarian meals – it’s both eco-friendly and waistline-friendly.  In the past, I have made frittatas with ham, but this week I had a nice selection of my favorite veggies on hand, so I decided to make a meat-free frittata for dinner.  I enjoy eggs for dinner once…

Friday Favorites – Episode 7

It’s Friday again, which means it’s time for my favorite blog posts of the week!  Time really does fly – it’s hard to believe this is my seventh week of Friday Favorites. When I started this blog back in January, I had no idea that it would be this much fun or that it would lead…
