2012-04-10_ThatWorksForMe-Featured

Today I’m doing something a little different… I’m not sharing a recipe or a kitchen tip, but I think you’ll want to stick around anyway.  I’ve got an e-book that you won’t want to miss… And, if you stick around a bit longer, I’m even giving one away! Works for Me Wednesday If you’re a…

One More Christmas Giveaway… Taste of Home Baking

2011-12-18_TOHBaking.jpg

Christmas is just one week away!  Are you ready? Well, to help you out a bit with your last minute shopping, I thought I’d host one more holiday giveaway! I was sent two copies of the Taste of Home Baking cookbook a few months ago… One for me to peruse (and bake from!), and one…

Food Blogger Gift Guide

2011-11-28_GiftGuide-250px

The holidays are officially here. I can attest to that based solely on the crowds at the mall on Friday! While I do enjoy going shopping on Black Friday with my mom each year, I never seem to finish up all of my Christmas shopping. This year, I barely made a dent in my list. Since I…

Last Minute Dinner Inspiration from Freschetta

2011-05-10_Freschetta-250px

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of FRESCHETTA® for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine. Ordering pizza… We’ve all done it.  As a food blogger, it is sometimes hard for me to admit that there are nights where I really just don’t feel like cooking. It happens.  I’d like to think…

My Favorite Spices + A Giveaway! (WFMW)

2011-02-09_Spices-WFMW-250px

For this week’s Works for Me Wednesday post, I thought I’d share one of my best secrets for great tasting foods… Herbs and spices!

That may seem a bit obvious, but I’m often surprised by how little some of my friends and family use herbs and spices in their cooking. Even when they do use a dried herb or a spice to flavor their food, they use so little of it that it hardly makes a difference (granted, there are some flavors where a little goes a long way, and I realize that!).

Gingerbread House Traditions and a Giveaway!

2010-12-23_Traditions-250px

One of the things that I love about Christmas is how each family has their own traditions that make the holiday special. Sure, there are lots of traditions that are the same – setting up a Christmas tree, exchanging gifts, and baking cookies, for example. Those traditions are great, but I really love hearing about the different traditions.

For me, some of the best traditions are the simple ones. When I was growing up, there was some time between the two Christmas Eve church services that we would attend when singing in the choir. During that time, we would always go home and drink cranberry ginger ale and eat cookies. It may seem kind of silly, but to this day, I have to have my glass of cranberry ginger ale on Christmas Eve.

It’s time to announce the winner of yesterday’s one day baking giveaway! Congratulations to Jan of Kitchen Heals Soul! Here’s her winning comment about her favorite cookies to bake during the holidays… I love to make cutouts. It’s the one time of year where I feel like I can face mounds of dough that have…

One of My Favorite Things (12 Days of Christmas Giveaway)

2010-12-16_RestaurantwareGiveaway.jpg

Over the past few months, I have become somewhat obsessed with the catering supplies from Restaurantware.com. You’ve seen lots of their biodegradeable bamboo tableware featured here in my photos.

I am a minimalist when it comes to decor, tableware, and food photography. You have probably noticed that already! When it comes to furniture, I love clean, simple lines and basic shapes. I feel the same way about tableware… I like to keep it simple and let the food to speak for itself. I think that’s what I have loved so much about the bamboo tableware. I find that it lends itself well to a variety of food but it doesn’t take over the picture. The food is still the star, which is just the way I like it!

Freezing Cookie Dough (WFMW) and a Giveaway!

2010-12-15_FreezingCookieDough-WFMW1.jpg

Since the holiday baking season is officially in full swing, I thought I’d share a holiday baking tip with you this Wednesday!

With Christmas over a week away, it’s still a bit early for me to start doing all of my holiday cookie baking. I don’t want my cookies to taste stales when my friends and family bite into them. But, I also want to get a head start on my baking. I bake a lot of cookies for Christmas, so I don’t have time to do everything in the last few days.
