Whether you love it or hate it, entertaining is a big part of the holidays. I happen to be one of those people who really enjoys entertaining friends and family. If I had the time (and energy), I’d prepare a 4 course dinner for friends and family every night of the week. I am also…

All week, I’ve been talking about holiday gifts… After all, the holiday season is now in full swing! I know Etsy’s been around for a while now, but in the last year I have really started doing some shopping on Etsy. And, I can’t get enough! So, for this week’s Friday Favorites, I thought I’d…

Each year, I do quite a bit of holiday baking… I’m sure that comes as no big surprise to most of you. I just love giving homemade goodies to all of our friends and family. Of all of the baking I do, I think cookies are my favorite. One of the things that I enjoy…

Love to give homemade gifts, but don’t have time for a lot of last-minute baking? Well, that’s where canning can come in really handy! Over the past few years, I’ve started doing a lot of canning and preserving throughout the summer. One reason is that I love to save the best of each season to…

The holidays are officially here. I can attest to that based solely on the crowds at the mall on Friday! While I do enjoy going shopping on Black Friday with my mom each year, I never seem to finish up all of my Christmas shopping. This year, I barely made a dent in my list. Since I…

Yesterday I gave you a great (and easy!) recipe for homemade cranberry sauce. So, today I thought I’d share another quick and easy holiday recipe that uses the cranberry sauce. After all, cranberry sauce can be a pretty versatile ingredient, and you don’t see too many “leftover cranberry sauce” recipes… Sure, it’s great to have…

Today my 12 Days of Christmas series is coming to an end!
It’s been fun sharing some of my favorite recipes, traditions, and tips with you. And, of course, the giveaways were a lot of fun, too!
After a few weeks of preparations, decorating, and baking, I am getting ready to relax and spend the holiday weekend with my friends and family. I’m looking forward to a break and some time to unwind.
Today, there won’t be any new recipes or tips. Instead, I just wanted to give you a glimpse into my world at Christmas time with a few of the pictures I have taken as I’ve been preparing for the holidays. I’d also like to wish you and your family a very merry Christmas!

One of the things that I love about Christmas is how each family has their own traditions that make the holiday special. Sure, there are lots of traditions that are the same – setting up a Christmas tree, exchanging gifts, and baking cookies, for example. Those traditions are great, but I really love hearing about the different traditions.
For me, some of the best traditions are the simple ones. When I was growing up, there was some time between the two Christmas Eve church services that we would attend when singing in the choir. During that time, we would always go home and drink cranberry ginger ale and eat cookies. It may seem kind of silly, but to this day, I have to have my glass of cranberry ginger ale on Christmas Eve.

Christmas is just a few short days away… Can you believe it?
While I find it amusing to spend hours upon end decorating cookies, I know that not everyone shares my love of piping bags and royal icing. I’m OK with that. If you can’t be bothered with worrying about outlining and flooding cookies or mixing up a rainbow of icing colors, then this post is for you!

You may not realize it, but Yellowdog (my yellow lab) is quite the accomplished writer.
When we were first married, we couldn’t think of anything to write in a Christmas letter to our friends and family. After hours of writing and re-writing the letter, with little to say, we ended up scrapping our version entirely. Instead, as a joke, we started writing the letter from Yellowdog’s perspective. After all, she’s part of the family, and her take on things is always more exciting than ours. We’ve been married for over 5 years now, and Yellowdog just finished writing her 6th Christmas letter!
So, today, I thought I’d let her take over and share a few of her favorite holiday tips, from the doggy perspective, of course!
