Last-Minute Gift for Bakers… Plus, A Cookie Decorating Party!

Christmas is approaching fast. Really fast.

That may not be news to any of you, but the fact that Christmas is only about a week away is hitting me pretty hard at the moment. Let’s just say that I have a friend (just a friend, definitely not me) who has barely started getting ready for Christmas yet. This crazy lady hasn’t finished buying gifts, hasn’t wrapped a thing, and hasn’t even thought about baking yet. Yup, what is she thinking?

Anyway, enough about my friend.

Today, I wanted to share a fun idea for any bakers on your list. It’s perfect if you are still looking for something at the last minute like me… Errr…. Like my friend! It will all arrive from Amazon.com via Prime shipping. Is free 2-day shipping with Amazon Prime not the best thing ever? That friend I was telling you about? Sometimes she orders shampoo from Amazon so she doesn’t have to run to the store. True story.

(Legal stuff… No, they aren’t paying me to say that… I pay for my own Prime membership. But, my links are Amazon affiliate links.)

Back to the gift idea… I’m sure you all remember my sweet friend Bridget from Bake at 350, right? She’s amazing, and this year, she wrote her second book. It’s called Decorating Cookies Party… And, it rocks. She’s got ten different sets of themed cookies that are perfect for throwing a party or having a bunch of friends over to decorate together. They are amazingly brilliant, just like Bridget.

Plus, the book contains my new favorite cookie recipe… Mocha Cut-Out Cookies! They are chocolatey and rich and perfect for decorating. (Note: If you are baking them for toddlers, you may want to leave out the espresso powder.  Unless you like having a caffeinated toddler, then by all means, go for it.)

Have I convinced you yet? Good!

So, here’s my idea. If you know someone who loves to bake or decorate cookies, why not put together a fun gift basket? Include the book (which has cookie recipes, decorating ideas, tips, and more) with a few cookie decorating essentials! Here are my favorites:

Now, if you’re on my Christmas list and get something similar to this, just act surprised… Ok?

Don’t need a gift? Why not throw a cookie decorating party over the holidays!

I threw a small Christmas cookie decorating party of my own a few weeks ago with a few tips from the book (and some of those Mocha Cut-Out Cookies!), and it was a blast! My mom, grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law, and cousin all came over and decorated a few cookies. My cousin’s little girl also joined in the fun with Maddie. The little ones especially had fun decorating and putting sprinkles on everything!

The list above is also great for stocking up on everything you’d need. You’ll find that the squeeze bottles are especially wonderful for decorating with kids. And, don’t forget the sprinkles!

I received a copy of Decorating Cookies Party for free, but all opinions expressed are my own. I was not obligated or otherwise compensated for writing this post. I just love decorating cookies!
