To me, Labor Day means two things… It’s time for a picnic (one of the few redeeming qualities of summer… yay!) and fall is right around the corner (double yay!). So, for summer last hurrah, I thought I’d feature some fun picnic-friendly dishes in this week’s Friday Favorites. Enjoy the summer foods while they last, though. I’ll be breaking out the pumpkin recipes in no time!
- Summer just wouldn’t be the same without s’mores. I admit that I am a huge fan. So, naturally, I’m loving these No Bake S’more Bites from A Thought For Food. And, since they are no-bake, I can avoid turning on the oven!
- On the subject of desserts, another one of my favorite summertime staples is cobbler. Can you think of a better way to showcase the lovely in-season fruits? I think this Peach and Blackberry Upside Down Cobbler from Guilty Kitchen would be a perfect addition to any end-of-summer picnic!
- No picnic is complete without macaroni salad, right? If you’re looking for a recipe, I’d recommend checking out this Macaroni Salad from Good Life Eats. Plus, Katie has featured quite a few other great recipes for your Labor Day picnic!
- Normally I’m not into cake balls and cake pops. They just aren’t my thing. Then, I saw these Baby Blue Velvet Cake Truffles from TidyMom. They are simply stunning, and I think they take cake balls to a whole new level. They would certainly make a chic dessert for a get together!
