Friday Favorites – Episode 96

Father’s Day is right around the corner… In fact, it’s on Sunday. Consider this your reminder.

So, with Father’s Day in mind, I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite father-friendly and father-approved recipes that I came across this past week.  If you’re looking for some ideas of what to make for your dad for Father’s Day, I’d recommend taking a look at these blog posts…

  • I come from a family of coffee drinkers… On many occasions, my family will sit for hours at the table enjoying coffee and dessert after dinner. I’m sure that these Mandelbrot from Dana Treat (her dad’s favorite!) will quickly become a new favorite in my family.
  • Sure, your mom may be impressed by a fruit crumble or an angel food cake… But, most of the dads I know are perfectly happy with chocolate chip cookies. My guess is that this Cast Iron Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie from Sugarcrafter will quickly make you the favorite.  Of course, your dad doesn’t play favorites… But, the cookie can’t hurt, right?
  • While we’re on the subject of cookies, I absolutely must mention these Oatmeal Brownie Milky Way Bars from I Am Baker.  Who wouldn’t love them? If you choose to keep them for yourself instead of sharing them with your dad, it will be our little secret.
  • Maybe it’s just my family… But, all of the men in my family really love chocolate cake with peanut butter icing.  So, if you’re looking for a cake to make for Father’s Day, I think this Chocolate Cake with Fluffy Peanut Butter Frosting from A Farmgirl’s Dabbles is just perfect for the occasion. I know my dad would love it!

  1. I think I want everything you listed! Coincidentally, I just made mandelbread last week:-)

  2. Tracy says:

Thanks for featuring my cookie! And, I’ve never heard of mandelbrot before, so I learned something new! :-)

  3. That’s a great roundup, Jen. I am totally considering buying a cast iron skillet just for making that darned cookie. (I have a whole set of Grandma’s waiting for me in Texas – can you imagine the shipping?!)

    1. I went too many years without a cast iron skillet and almost hate to admit I just got one recently after YEARS of borrowing one occasionally.

Don’t wait, do it now! :)

  4. Amanda says:

Ah, thanks sweety! Great round up as always!

  5. Yummy Friday Favorites!
