Friday Favorites – Episode 65

I am well aware of the fact that fall doesn’t actually begin until later this month… In my house, though, fall started last weekend when we had some cool weather.  I decided that it would be jumping the gun a bit to start putting out all of my fall decorations before Labor Day, so that is on the agenda this weekend.  And, to top it all off, we received our first pumpkin in our CSA box this week. Plus, I have quite a few pumpkins and butternut squash that will be ready to pick in my garden any day now.  Fall is here!

In order to celebrate the unofficial start of autumn at my house, I thought I’d pick some fall-inspired recipes for this week’s Friday Favorites…

  • Once I make puree from that very first CSA pumpkin of the year, I am pretty sure I will be using it to make these Pumpkin Spice Breakfast Cakes from How Sweet It Is. Since they’re made with whole wheat flour, I’d even consider them a healthy breakfast option!
  • Ever since I received an ebelskiver pan for Christmas last year (I actually got two, but ended up returning one for a cast iron skillet!), I have been obsessed with making the pretty little puffed pancakes.  Naturally, I am dying to try these Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Ebelskivers from The Other Side of Fifty.
  • I’m going apple picking with my mom this weekend, and I am definitely thinking about making this Apple Blackberry Jam from Juls’ Kitchen with some of the apples. It looks absolutely divine… Just look at the dark, rich color!
  • This post is from a few weeks ago, but I had to include it because it fits my theme perfectly! This Pumpkin Bread from Bake at 350 looks as good as any I’ve ever seen… and yes, it is “The Most Wonderful Time of Year!”
