Friday Favorites – Episode 30

Last week many of you insisted that I should continue to write my Friday Favorites each week…  Well, your wish is my command!

I’m writing this edition of my Friday Favorites on Thursday night because I have a busy weekend coming up! I will fill you in on all the details in the next few days.  Until then, take a few minutes and check out these great blog posts!

  • Before we get to the recipes, check out this photography post from Food Bloggers Unite!  If you’ve been struggling with taking pictures now that the days are getting shorter and natural light is hard to find, this post is for you.  There are lots of great tips and you can take great photos without spending a fortune!
  • I’ve been contemplating making a sandwich with apples for a while… I haven’t gotten around to it yet, though. Instead, I think I may just give this Portabella Mushroom, Cheddar & Granny Smith Apple Sandwich from Savor the Thyme a try. I’m thinking they would be fantastic with some butternut squash soup!
  • You may have noticed that I have been using my slow cooker a lot lately. Here’s another great slow cooker recipe for you.  This Slow Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup from Gimme Some Oven looks delicious.  Perhaps I should propose a Chicken Tortilla Soup flavored candle to go along with my Shredded Beef Taco candle?  They could be sold as a two-pack… Or maybe in one of those multi-flavor layered jar candles. Hmm…
  • Finally, I have to mention these Mexican Wedding Cookies from A Chica Bakes. When I was growing up, a woman who went to our church always made these for Christmas, and they were my favorite.  I would wait all year for those cookies. I just might have to start making them myself each year!

At first I thought, “Oh, just another food photography tips link,” but curiosity got the better of me and I’m glad it did! It’s about taking photos at night, and that’s been nagging at me ever since I realized I can’t take dinner type photos at 7 pm anymore. It’s a good link, and thanks so much for finding it.

  2. Thank you so much for the photo link! Even when I cook on weekends, I’ve been having to make sure to get started in the morning, otherwise I run out of light! I appreciate all the photo help I can get.

  3. Love this week’s Friday Favorites! :) I’ve definitely missed a lot…

  4. Great Friday Favorites!
