Friday Favorites – Episode 13

This week I hit my 100th blog post… and I’m already on my 13th edition of my Friday Favorites!  It seems like just yesterday that I was pondering starting a food blog. Originally, I just wanted to work on a few original recipes to put together a cookbook for my friends and family for Christmas.  As I thought about it, I decided it could be fun to start writing a blog – just as a good place to keep my recipes until Christmas rolls around.  Well, 100 posts later, I can’t imagine what I did before I was writing a food blog.  I have met so many wonderful bloggers and been inspired to create new dishes and work on my photography skills (thanks to a quite a few photo rejections on the popular TasteSpotting and FoodGawker).  Now I’m looking forward to my next 100 posts!

Now, for this week’s favorite blog posts…

  • I bookmarked this Iced Jasmine Mint Green Tea from Savory Sweet Life this week as soon as I saw the the first picture.  This tea looks so delicious and refreshing.  I am sure it will be a great way to use up the acres of mint that are growing in my back yard.  Ok, maybe not acres, but it is growing like a weed in about 5 different places in my yard.
  • I am sharing this second post with you because I still can’t believe I never thought of this. This week’s Works-For-Me Wednesday from Bake at 350 was a tip about freezing buttermilk.  I have a horrible habit of having to throw away half-empty cartons of buttermilk because it has spoiled in my fridge. Not any more!
  • One of my favorite dishes to order when I go out to eat is fish tacos.  I rarely make them at home, though. As I have mentioned before, I don’t deep fry.  So, when I saw these Baked Fish Tacos from Evil Shenanigans, I was thrilled!  You can be sure that I will be making these for dinner sometime very soon!
  • Lately I have been using flavored liqueurs in desserts…  I am especially fond of coffee and chocolate liqueurs.  So, when I saw this Frozen Coffee Liqueur Soufflé from 5 Star Foodie, I knew it was a recipe that I will try.  I just need to locate a bottle of the Sheridan’s Coffee Layered Liqueur.
