Warm Cinnamon Apples

It’s a cold, snowy January evening, a perfect evening for comfort food.  In my opinion, nothing beats the smell of apples and cinnamon simmering on the stove – except maybe curling up with a bowl of these warm cinnamon apples!

Ingredients:

  • 6 medium apples
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Directions:

Core, peel, and slice the apples.

Heat the butter in a skillet over medium heat.  Add the sugars, cinnamon, and nutmeg, and stir to combine.  Once the mixture begins to bubble, add the sliced apples, and stir to coat.

Continue to cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender and the butter mixture reduces to a thick syrup. Serve warm as a side dish or topped with whipped cream for dessert.
